Introduction

Provide exceptional customer service at the till points to create a positive, lasting impression. Maintain Food Supply Chain disciplines, including health and safety, food handling, and merchandising principles.

Job Description

Customer Service & Sales

  • Promote Woolworths loyalty cards to non-card customers.
  • Inform customers about available services (e.g., utility bill payments, airtime).
  • Meet customer needs by offering advice on options, services, and products.
  • Suggest alternatives if a product is unavailable.

Till Transactions

  • Process transactions efficiently, ensuring accuracy in pricing.
  • Scan and pack items correctly while checking for payment irregularities.
  • Promote different payment methods (e.g., gift cards, World of Difference cards).

Stock Management

  • Rotate stock and remove waste while replenishing shelves.
  • Maintain cold chain and hygiene standards.
  • Implement stock rotation in storage areas.
  • Identify and set aside low-quality items for return.
  • Ensure products are properly displayed and stockroom items are on the sales floor.

Product Knowledge & Standards

  • Stay informed about special promotions (e.g., Christmas, Mother’s Day).
  • Highlight product features and benefits to customers.
  • Follow store guidelines for gridding and rack alignment.
  • Know new product lines and promotions in the department.

Store Maintenance & Shopkeeping

  • Keep till points hygienic, safe, and well-organized.
  • Follow store policies for product placement and replenishment.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy department.

Shrinkage Prevention

  • Report any dishonest or suspicious activity to management or security.
  • Follow corporate store policies to minimize shrinkage.
  • Apply red flag procedures where necessary.
  • Use the buddy system for added security.

Personal Leadership

  • Maintain self-discipline in attendance, dress code, hygiene, and timekeeping.
  • Participate in daily meetings to stay informed about store goals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Flexible and available for different shifts.
  • Relevant work experience in a similar environment is an advantage.
