Duties of DSV logistics officer
The apponted person will be responsible for managing staff, clients, and operational deliverables within the branch to ensure alignment with the organisation’s objectives. This role requires strategic leadership, resource optimisation, and strong operational control to ensure optimal delivery of services and well-managed fleet health.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- National Diploma in Logistics or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Logistics or Courier environment
Job-Related Requirements
- Excellent financial acumen
- Ability to travel and work extended hours when required
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to work in a complex and high-demand environment
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff
- Sound knowledge of Labour Relations Act (LRA) and Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
- Experience in Industrial Relations (IR)
- Proficiency in vehicle tracking systems, MS Office, Power BI, and analytics
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Full accountability for transport management within Road Logistics
- Manage all operational initiatives including fleet cost, fleet health, and compliance
- Ensure all customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met
- Oversee fleet management, maintenance, and driver allocations
- Monitor and manage fuel usage and route planning
- Prepare and manage client KPI dashboards, reporting, and analysis
- Apply commercial and financial understanding of contracts and profitability
- Assist with budget preparation and financial planning
- Ensure accurate monthly invoicing and Proof of Delivery (POD) processing
- Manage daily operational performance to achieve metric targets
- Lead staff management, including coaching, mentoring, and succession planning
- Collaborate with HR on disciplinary and performance-related issues
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing, vehicle utilisation, and service offerings
- Conduct weekly team meetings to discuss operational updates, challenges, and feedback
